How We Measure Our Trousers

For the most accurate comparison, lay your favourite trousers flat on a table and measure them as follows:

Waist — measure the waistband from side to side and multiply the result by two.
Thigh width — measure across the widest part of the leg, close to the crotch seam.
Inside leg length — measure from the crotch seam to the end of the leg.
Outer leg length — measure from the top of the waistband to the end of the leg.
Rise — measure from the crotch seam to the top edge of the waistband.
Leg opening width — measure across the bottom edge of the leg.
